Unpunished Crimes of the CIA. Part 1.
The OSS was created during the Second World War in an effort to consolidate the various spy and intelligence agencies along with the Joint Chiefs of Staff within the United States government. Sanctioned in June 1942 by President Roosevelt, the OSS started arming and training resistance movements in order to harass both the Germans and the Japanese during the War. As is the norm in the self-interest of governments, they lay down with some strange bedfellows. Two groups that the American OSS helped included Mao Zedong’s Communist Red Army in China and the Viet Minh in French Indochina (Vietnam). Both of course would go on to become our worse enemies in later years. This is just an example of the treacherous nature deployed in an attempt at strategic advantage. As well, this tactic continues the conflict, thus ensuring the maximization of profits, such as arms sales, which is one of the fundamentals of war. At the height of its influence during World War II, the OSS employed almost 24,000 people.
Once the CIA morphed out of the OSS in 1947 under the National Security Act, its original mandate appeared rather benignly stating, “no police or law enforcement functions, either at home or abroad”. However a year later, this was expanded to include rather more meat, “sabotage, anti-sabotage, demolition and evacuation measures, subversion [and] assistance to underground resistance movements, guerrillas and refugee liberation movements, and support of indigenous anti-communist elements in threatened countries of the free world”. Now that sounds a lot better.
The first permanent CIA director was Rear Admiral Roscoe H. Hillenkoetter. During his tenure, the CIA was authorized to carry out covert operations “against hostile foreign states or groups or in support of friendly foreign states or groups but which are so planned and conducted that any US Government responsibility for them is not evident to unauthorized persons.” In common language, this means, “Lie, cheat and kill, but don’t get caught!”
Now things were on a roll and whether legal or not, the CIA had the run of the “Hen House”, did exactly what it wanted, and still does. Understand that this is at its core a legal criminal organization and not a force engaged in the safety of the American public, but to insure corporate dominance.
Research shows that the US Government and the CIA had/has no problem in working with, or hiring criminals, thugs and sadists, as long as they furthered the plans of this organization and gives it advantage over its enemies which includes you. Of course this situation is not exclusive to America. Britain with its CIA equivalent, the MI6, are cut from the same cloth. Canada, Australia and many, many other countries all practice this same totalitarian Nazi way of thinking. Do not be fooled into believing that democratic countries truly are. It is simply a different approach to the age-old problem of controlling the masses.
“MK-ULTRA spooks and shrinks tested radiation, electric shocks, electrode implants, microwaves, ultrasound and a wide range of drugs on unwitting subjects, including hundreds of prisoners at California’s infamous Vacaville State Prison.” –“The CIA’s Greatest Hits” by Mark Zepezauer
Project MK-ULTRA (MKULTRA), which began in the early 1950s, was a covert and highly secret program of the newly formed CIA. It was run by the Office of Scientific Intelligence and used both US and Canadian citizens for their experiments.
Basically, it was a research program on behavioural modification through the use of torture, drugs (especially LSD), hypnosis, etc., in an effort to change brain function and thus manipulate people. Hard to believe… yes of course, but bear-in-mind that governments are continuously searching for new ways to subjugate the masses. It’s been going on for thousands of years.
Being a clandestine program, almost no one outside of the project knew about it and would have been on a “need to know” basis. Through the Freedom of Information Act, thousands of documents became available during the 1970s. In 1973 Richard Helms, then CIA Director, tried to destroy as much paperwork as he could, but fortunately around 20,000 pages escaped his grasp which painted a clear picture of what this and other subsequent programs were all about and demonstrated that the CIA were in fact government thugs and neck-deep in illegal criminality.
Immediately following the end of WWII, the Allies held the Nuremberg Trials in a public display of indignation and horror at the savage treatment that the Nazis had subjected concentration camp prisoners to. In a pseudo-cathartic show-trial a handful (23) of the top management were tried. Following this a further 142 lesser felons were convicted. However, many of the most evil criminals were simply pardoned, released or forgiven and many (in the region of 2500) top scientists and specialists were shipped off to America under Operation Paperclip. Most, but not all of these people, ended up working on the Space Program and were responsible for the creation of NASA. The ones that had engaged in torture and barbaric experiments also found employment.
“If the Nuremberg Laws were Applied…”
“If the Nuremberg laws were applied then every post-war American president would have been hanged. By violation of the Nuremberg laws, I mean the same kind of crimes for which people were hanged in Nuremberg. And Nuremberg means Nuremberg and Tokyo.” -Noam Chomsky
The Nuremberg Trials in reality were hypocritical for two reasons. First, the Allies had used some of the same tactics during the War, and second, that several murdering fugitives were scooped up and found their way into MK-ULTRA and other programs. The information that the Nazis had collected on brainwashing, torture, electric shock and the use of chemicals and truth-serums were now given a green light for further research and a host of sadistic and immoral events evolved. Under the MK-ULTRA heading a multitude of other programs and spinoffs were started. -The Warrior (To be continued).
